This actually happened a few months ago, but I figure I might as well post it for a few laughs. I was out at PIR for the Saturday Night Drags, there there was a Yellow RX-7 that sounded pretty bad. (no, I really mean BAD, modded RX-7's always sound like crap) Anyway, got to talking to the guy, he's running a built 2-rotor (apex seals, and stuff?) with a single T66... didn't ask how much boost. I guess he was still tuning it but I overheard him say 500-something at the wheels. Dunno if he had a bottle or not. Anyway, as luck would have it... I actually ended up lining up next to the guy. Well, if you read my profile... you'll realize that I stand no chance in hell against a car like this. (I basically have intake/pulley/DP/11psi, maybe 300 at the wheels) Oh well, it'll be fun watching him smoke me. We line up and the light turns green. I get a semi-decent launch (2.1sec 60' on my street tires) but I think he launched too high. He spun the tires, then slammed against the rev limiter with a big backfire. I think he just dropped it into 2nd, then bogged it real bad. At this point, I'm about 2 carlengths ahead. He hits the boost in 2nd, and his GOD DAMN ROCKETSHIP takes off. He comes FLYING up next to me, then MISSES THE SHIFT into 3rd! LOL. He struggles to get it in 3rd as we are side-by-side and I pull away again. I don't know what the problem was, but I open up almost 3 carlengths as he fiddles with the tranny. He finally gets it in gear, and I see him FLYING up to me again. We are neck-and-neck as we cross the line at the end of the 1/4 mile. I ran a (poor) 13.7@105mph, and he runs a 13.8 (I win! woohoo) at 117mph, LOL! OMG! Anyway, just thought I'd share... the guy's car was pretty awesome. I've also seen him driving a 300zxTT with stock turbos and a 100shot, it runs low 12's on street tires. (not for long... heh) Good fun, -Ryan
